Awhile back I posted about the quality of Paparazzi jewelry, this week let’s look at keeping those $5 pieces looking their best. Although the jewelry is just $5 it should last you a few seasons of wear. If you learn how to clean Paparazzi jewelry, you can extend the life even more.
Caring for your Paparazzi Jewelry
First of all, take care of your jewelry to keep it in tip-top shape. Avoid swimming, sweating, sleeping or showering in your accessories. If you live in a humid climate, consider storing your baubles in a velvet-lined jewelry box or keep a dry piece of chalk with your jewelry to help absorb the extra moisture in the air. Store your jewelry properly to keep necklaces from being tangled, bracelets being knotted and earrings lost. (future post coming soon!)
When getting ready, always add your accessories last. Hairsprays, perfumes, lotions, etc. should all be applied before your jewelry as these can dull or discolor your jewelry.
How to Clean Paparazzi Jewelry
If you have worn your accessories several times and notice the silver isn’t quite so shiny and the rhinestones aren’t quite so sparkly there are a few different methods to rejuvenate them. The easiest way is with a buffing cloth. This is especially useful on the silver metal.
If you don’t have a buffing cloth and need to get an accessory cleaned before you go to the store you may use simple items that you already have at home.
You will need a soft toothbrush or Q-Tip, a drop of baby shampoo or mild soap and a bit of water. Dip the toothbrush or Q-Tip in the soap/water solution and scrub gently. Other jewelry cleansers that you can buy will be too harsh for fashion jewelry. Avoid getting too much water on the piece. Even while cleaning you will want to keep your jewelry dry as much as possible. After cleaning rub dry with a soft hand-towel. You can also use a blow-dryer set on the cool setting (avoid the heat) to make sure all the crooks and crannies of the accessory are dry.
That’s it! Pretty easy, right? As I stated before if you take care of your Paparazzi jewelry it should take care of you. For more tips like this please follow me on Facebook.
P.S. I just added new accessories to The Shop. Get them while you can. 😉
